Anxious Weight

It is true— “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down.” I have seen anxiety knock a person down. I have seen anxiety cause a person to fall over. I have seen anxiety make people sick. I have seen anxiety cause people to be bed ridden. Yes, anxiety weighs a person down.

Proverbs reminds us that a good word is beneficial. A good word can take a person who is down and help them, encourage them—speak life to them. A good word can make a person’s day. A good word can make a big difference. A good word plants seeds—seeds that will grow and multiply.

Today, if you are being weighed down by worry, remember that we are to cast all our cares on God (1 Peter 5:7). Give it to God. You were never meant to carry all of the burden. If you know someone who is suffering from anxiety or may need a kind word, take the time to speak some life into that person’s life. Kind words don’t cost anything. Good words don’t require any special training. If you are at a loss for words, open up the Word. Pray for the Spirit to reveal to you the verse to be shared. Share your hope in the Lord. May your words be a blessing to others.

“Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.” – Proverbs 12:25 [ESV]
