Tag Archives: claim know God
There are people in this world who say that they know God, but when you examine their lives, you cannot tell God is part of their lives. You cannot even tell that they know God. They actually deny God by the way they live their life. Paul is clear about these people. He says, “They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.”
These words seem harsh, but they really aren’t harsh at all if you understand the context. Paul is speaking about people who are claiming that they know God. It is one thing to claim you know God; it is another thing to live like you know God. When people go around claiming they know God, claiming that they are Christians, but they don’t have a true relationship with Jesus, the world hears and the world is turned off by Jesus. This is why Paul uses these words. These people are disobedient to the Word of God. These people are worthless for doing anything good—they are turning people away from Jesus Christ. That is detestable.
Today, remember that there is a difference between claiming to know God and actually knowing God. There is a difference between living life with God or living life only speaking of God. It’s one thing to say you are a Christian. It’s another thing to live for Christ. I pray you are not a living denial of Jesus. I pray that when people see you, they are pointed to the King of Kings!
“Such people claim they know God, but they deny Him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.” – Titus 1:16 [NLT]
