8-12-17 Rev Fest
Genesis 1:26-28– Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” MADE IN THE LIKENESS OF GOD
Genesis 3:4-5– But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. ALREADY WERE LIKE GOD, BUT THE DEVIL GOT THEM TO FORGET THIS TRUTH
Philippians 2:9-10– Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. GLORY TO JESUS.
Isaiah 43:7– Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.
Romans 6:13 – Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.
Colossians 3:10-11 – and have put on the new selfwho is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him— a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all.
Isaiah 64:8– But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and You are our potter; we are all the work of Your hand.
Isaiah 29:16– You have turned things around, as if the potter were the same as the clay. How can what is made say about its maker,” He didn’t make me“? How can what is formed say about the one who formed it,” He doesn’t understand what he’s doing“?
Ephesian 2:10– For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.
One of the ideas I often hear spoken is that we are “all children of God.” This is something that people say when they are trying to say everyone is equal. Yes, everyone is important. Yes, everyone is created by God. But not everyone is a child of God. This is a mistruth that sadly allows people to find comfort that keeps them from seeing true salvation.
The Bible says that the only people who are “children of God” are those who believe in Jesus Christ. If you refuse the Son, you refuse the Father. Bottom line. This is not me talking. This is the Word of God. We can sugar coat it to appease others, but we are only then loving them to hell.
Look around. There are people around you who are children of God, as the Bible defines, and there are those who do not know the Truth. Speak boldly today. Allow the Spirit to loosen your lips. Let people know that if they want to accept the free gift of Jesus Christ, it is available. When they make this step, they will be called a “child of God.” Thank the Lord that we can call out to God, “Abba Father” and He hears us and He recognizes us as His children. Thank you Jesus!
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.” – John 1:12 [NASB]
“No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also.” 1 John 2:23 [ESV]
Eleven years is a long time. I remember that day like it was yesterday—the day when plans changed. I realized something I always knew, but came to know more deeply—that I was not in control—that there would be moments when it didn’t matter how hard I tried, I would fail. Things changed that day. Over the years, I have held to this truth—that God carries us through.
God carried the Israelites through the Red Sea and through the Wilderness. Though they were knee deep in disobedience, He provided. He did not abandon. He was the reason the Red Sea parted. He the One Who provided the manna, the water, the quail. He was the One Who illuminated the sky with a pillar of fire. In the same way, He carried Joseph. The Bible says He was with Joseph, even through the darkness of prison. He was with him. He is with us too.
God is the love of your life and mine, whether you realize this or not. He loves you more than anyone else can possibly love you. He created you. He formed you. He provides for you. He watches over you. He has a great plan for YOU. He is the love of your life. Today, boldly declare His Word. Walk with confidence. His Word tells us that through Him we have victory. Live victorious my friend. He will carry you through.
“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” – Deuteronomy 31:8 [NIV]

God carries us through. He carried the Israelites through the Red Sea and through the Wilderness. Just like He was with Joseph so He is with us. He promises to never leave or forsake. His Word tells us through Him we have victory. He is the love of your life and of mine. Boldly declare His Word today. Walk with confidence. #truth #Bible #GodsWord #Jesus #truelove
As we grow, we cannot help but put values on people. It is all around us. Some people make more money than others. Some people come from a more advanced culture than others. Some people are more popular than others. We might catch ourselves picking favorites. Sometimes we find ourselves in a position to consider whose life is more important. All life is important. All life is precious.
It is hard to see some people mistreated or passed by because they don’t fit into a mold that is popularized by the mainstream people. I have heard people say, “That person is a waste.” People have said it would be “good if he would just die.” I wonder what God thinks as He sees these people—His children.
In Genesis, at the very beginning, God created people and He cared for them. In today’s passage, it speaks about shedding the blood of humans. “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans let his blood be shed.” Now many people abuse and misunderstand the meaning of this passage without looking forward. It continues, “BECAUSE GOD MADE HUMANS IN HIS IMAGE REFLECTING GOD’S VERY NATURE.” God would rather no human blood is shed because life is precious. Each person matters. Each person is made in His image. So today as you walk through your day, as you see people on the street or at work that you might not speak to or look at—that you might ignore and think less of—today consider them as God would consider them. They are precious. Each and every one.
“Whoever sheds human blood,
by humans let his blood be shed,
Because God made humans in his image
reflecting God’s very nature.
You’re here to bear fruit, reproduce,
lavish life on the Earth, live bountifully!”
-Genesis 9:6-7 [MSG]
I love to cook. When I have the time, I will search for new recipes and walk in uncharted territory. I love to pull out old recipes that are favorites to enjoy again. Sometimes I will pull from my Pennsylvania Dutch roots. Whenever I am cooking, utensils are needed—and for some things I have a special utensil used for a particular usage. I will look deep in the utensil drawer to grab that one, no matter how long it takes to find it. To me, it is the only one that can do the particular job.
In 2 Timothy we read about keeping ourselves pure. Today’s verse speaks of a “special utensil for honorable use.” We might think about the special utensils we have in our kitchens; however, we also are special utensils. Each one of us was created by God and chosen for honorable use. He has a great plan and purpose for YOUR life.
You will be a special utensil for God. You need only “keep yourself pure.” Focus on Him. Focus on His Word. Focus on what is good, pure, holy—and watch how God uses you for His glory. This is a great promise. YOU will be a SPECIAL UTENSIL for HONORABLE USE. Yes, you!
“If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 2:21 [NLT]
