Our God is an awesome God. He has no equal. He has performed many wonders. We cannot recite all that He has done. Nor can we list the plans that He has for us. The “plans for us are too numerous to list.”
Often we get caught up in our own plans. We try to plan out our life to live a purposeful life. Yet we don’t even know what life is about or the purpose for our life. God has beautifully orchestrated everything, including our lives. He has plans for you and I, plans that are too numerous to list. We need to question if we are following God’s will, and if our plans are actually God’s plans for our lives. What list are you living?
Never think that no one cares for you. There are people who care for you. More importantly, the God of the universe cares for you. He cares so much that He has plans for you that are “too numerous to list.” Your life has a purpose. This purpose you can find as you walk with God, as you have an intimate relationship with Him. He will reveal Himself to you, and you will know Him more and know yourself more. This will help you to catch a glimpse of some of these plans that are too many to list.
It is because of Jesus Christ and His great sacrifice that you can press forward in Him and live this life, knowing God and serving Him. Today, thank Him for His perfect sacrifice and ask that God will reveal Himself to you in a new and fresh way.
“O LORD my God, You have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all Your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.” – Psalm 40:5 [NLT]
The Psalmist notes that the Lord’s plans stand firm forever. His intentions can never be shaken. The Psalmist understands that the Lord is God Almighty. He is in control and He is faithful. The Psalmist understands that whatever God speaks, He will see to fruition.
When we read the Bible, do we accept the intentions of God? Do you understand that He will see that things He designed will be seen to completion? Do you understand that if He intends to accomplish something, that He will see it through? He is not like a person who will have good intentions, but cannot see them through. He is not like person that changes the intentions. The God of the Old Testament is the same God in the New Testament. His intentions have never changed. As you page through His Word, you will encounter the Almighty, the great I AM. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow (Hebrews 13:8).
Today, rest in this truth. Know that you serve a God that has intentions that can never be shaken. His plans stand firm forever. Trust in Him. His intentions are always good and they are always seen through to fruition.
“But the LORD’s plans stand firm forever; His intentions can never be shaken.” – Psalm 33:11 [NLT]
After the scouts returned and ten men gave a bad report, the Israelites were not eager to press forward. Actually, they were considering the idea of selecting another leader to lead them back to Egypt. Yes, the people wanted to go back to their slavery in Egypt instead of the Promised Land. Talk about trust issues.
Joshua and Caleb, the two spies who were confident in the promises of God, tore their robes and fell to the ground. They spoke to the congregation only to have the people desire to stone them. Then God spoke. Moses pleaded with the Lord on the people’s behalf. God promised that none of the people would enter the Promised Land, but Joshua and Caleb. The people were to turn around and head back by way of the Red Sea. Punishment was poured out. Moses shared with the people what the Lord said. The people mourned. The next morning, they decided they were ready to enter the Promised Land, so rather than turn around as the Lord commanded, they pressed forward into disobedience and were defeated.
God’s timing is the timing that matters. He has everything beautifully orchestrated. There are moments He commands us to do something, and time passes before we obey. It is not supposed to be like that—when we hear the command of God, we should respond accordingly. Dragging feet is not permitted. But this was worse than dragging feet. When God commanded the people to turn around, they willfully disobeyed. When we are ready, we should be ready for whatever God has placed before us. The option of what we receive and when we receive it is always is in the hands of God. We shouldn’t answer, “Now we are ready” after His commands. Instead, our response should always be, “We are ready now” the moment of His command.
“Then they got up early the next morning and went to the top of the range of hills. ‘Let’s go,’ they said. ‘We realize that we have sinned, but now we are ready to enter the land the LORD has promised us.’” – Numbers 14:40 [NLT]
In Proverbs 20:24 we read, “The very steps we take come from God; otherwise how would we know where we’re going?” (MSG). The Lord directs our steps. We are not going to understand everything along the way. But still we are to walk in faith.
I have planned many plans. I thought they were the best possible plans for me. They looked good. They sounded good. But after I followed those plans, I stumbled, failed, or simply didn’t get the outcome I expected. It didn’t make any sense. God’s plans are now the plans I follow, but still the plans don’t make sense. How can man understand his way? I often wonder what is going to happen next because I only see with limited sight while God has the big picture.
There were many occasions when I walked in faith and expected a particular outcome, but got something so very different than I could have imagined. Remember, His thoughts are not like our thoughts. Our God is a God of the impossible. We often limit God by coming up with our miniscule plans. We think they are grand plans, but if we could see His plans, we would laugh at our little ideas. Today I challenge you to seek God as you envision what He has for your life. Walk forward taking the steps he directs. Praise Him along the way and don’t forget to tell people when you have a “Boom” moment. What’s that? That’s when you finally reach the end of a season and you see what He has done. Boom. So much more than I imagined. Boom. Wow, that’s incredible! Boom. Get blown away by God. Don’t limit Him. Fly with Him. Soar high my friends.
“A man’s steps are from the LORD; how then can man understand his way?” – Proverbs 20:24 [ESV]
