“He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” – Psalm 91:4 [NLT]
When walking the dog, a cat came into view. My dog immediately got excited to “make friends” with the cat. I do not think that the cat was too eager for this friendship and she ran away. What struck me as funny was the fact that she ran and stopped beside her family’s dog and got herself comfortable beside the dog, as if the relax in her protection. She looked at peace lounging beside the dog. My dog noted the change of situation and kept on walking. It’s not so often that I see a cat lounging at peace beside a dog.
As the dog offered great protection to her family’s cat, so God offers us great protection. We are able to run to Him and rest in Him. We can be sure that when we are covered with His wings, we are safe—we are secure. Nothing can pluck us from His hands (John 10:27-28). The Bible tells us over and over again to fear not. Why? Because He is with us and He is in control (1 Corinthians 3:16, Proverbs 19:21). Because He loves us and He has promised us a hope and a future (John 3:16, Jeremiah 29:11).
Today may be one of the hardest days of your life—rest in Him. He will bring you comfort. He will bring you strength. He will provide you all that you need. He always does.
“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” – Psalm 46:1 [NLT]
This past month has been an ordeal for me. It seems that everything that could go wrong, goes wrong, right down to every little detail. In life, those who are most threatening are the ones who the enemy tries to bring down. The devil doesn’t want people speaking up and spreading the Truth. Before I left Australia, my friend and dear sister in Christ and I went to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, and we filmed my testimony. After all of the behind-the-scenes work, it is finished and ready to air on television. People have watched my testimony and it caused them to take a step toward God. The devil doesn’t like that one bit.
As a single mother, it gets tiring doing nearly everything without the help of another person. I’ll tell you right now, moving is draining– moving with no one to help is even worse. I lost my modem and it took days to find it, making schooling difficult. Forms were misplaced, causing things to get messed up. Then I went to connect my printer and the computer said the driver was missing. After five failed attempts to install the driver, the printer would not work. One obstacle after another occurred this week. I could barely take it anymore. I found myself yesterday morning, on my knees crying, asking why nothing was going right with the move. Why was I being pushed to the limit with my patience? It was as if something or someone was working against me, just hoping that I would fall.
But I wasn’t giving in. I gave the devil a piece of my mind and said that My God was bigger and I wasn’t going to back down. He could toss whatever he wanted my way, but I knew I was safe. See, as a child of God, we have the Good Shepherd watching over us. He tells us that no one can snatch His sheep from His hand. If we trust Him, if we tell the devil that he has no chance again our God– our awesome God– we will be right. No one can snatch you from His hand. Today, if someone or something is threatening you, or if you feel nothing is going right, declare that your God is bigger than the problem or situation. The Good Shepherd has you safe in His hand.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.”
– John 10:227-28 [NASB]
