Too Numerous to List

Our God is an awesome God. He has no equal. He has performed many wonders. We cannot recite all that He has done. Nor can we list the plans that He has for us. The “plans for us are too numerous to list.”

Often we get caught up in our own plans. We try to plan out our life to live a purposeful life. Yet we don’t even know what life is about or the purpose for our life. God has beautifully orchestrated everything, including our lives. He has plans for you and I, plans that are too numerous to list. We need to question if we are following God’s will, and if our plans are actually God’s plans for our lives. What list are you living?

Never think that no one cares for you. There are people who care for you. More importantly, the God of the universe cares for you. He cares so much that He has plans for you that are “too numerous to list.” Your life has a purpose. This purpose you can find as you walk with God, as you have an intimate relationship with Him. He will reveal Himself to you, and you will know Him more and know yourself more. This will help you to catch a glimpse of some of these plans that are too many to list.

It is because of Jesus Christ and His great sacrifice that you can press forward in Him and live this life, knowing God and serving Him. Today, thank Him for His perfect sacrifice and ask that God will reveal Himself to you in a new and fresh way.

“O LORD my God, You have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all Your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.” – Psalm 40:5 [NLT]

Living the Life Set Out for You

God has a great plan for your life. Do you believe it? It is true. He has a great plan for each and every life. He is the great Creator and He has something exciting and special for each one of us. Don’t look to someone else’s life to define you, to copy, to guide your path. Only you can live your life and God has designed a plan just perfectly for you. He alone can guide your steps in this journey.
God responded to Solomon’s prayers with a guarantee and a warning. He promised a solid foundation for Solomon’s rule and a descendant always on the throne for Israel. What was required was to live in God’s presence, to be pure in heart, “living the life (God) set out.” This means the life that God planned for him to live, being in God’s will.
God knows your full potential. He created you and knows what will be beneficial and what will deprive you. He understands you more than you understand yourself. There are moments when we believe we know better, when we only see so much of the plan and do not think it will work out as well as something else we could come up with ourselves. God has a beautiful life set out for you. Walk in faith and trust in His will for your life. If you don’t, you might be missing out on something you could never even have imagined. Yes, His plans are that good!

“And GOD said to him, ‘I’ve listened to and received all your prayers, your ever-so-passionate prayers. I’ve sanctified this Temple that you have built: My Name is stamped on it forever; my eyes are on it and my heart in it always. As for you, if you live in my presence as your father David lived, pure in heart and action, living the life I’ve set out for you, attentively obedient to my guidance and judgments, then I’ll back your kingly rule over Israel, make it a sure thing on a solid foundation. The same guarantee I gave David your father I’m giving you: ‘You can count on always having a descendant on Israel’s throne.’’”
-1 Kings 9:3-5 [MSG]

Passion for the Wrong Things

It is great to be passionate and focused on something. It is good to work hard at whatever you do as if working for the Lord (Colossians 3:17). But as Todd Adkins says, it “doesn’t matter how hard you work if you’re working on the wrong things.” The question is—are you working on the wrong things?

To answer that question, we need to have an understanding of God’s will. We need to understand our purpose in life. We also need to have a good understanding of God’s Word. So how do we understand God’s will and word and our purpose? We need to look to Him who has the answers.  I cannot tell you your purpose—only God can direct your path. I cannot tell you God’s will for your life—only God through the Holy Spirit can provide the enlightenment you need. I can help you understand some Bible passages—only you can take them as your own and do something with it.

Sometimes working at the wrong things means SIN, that horrible three-letter word. It might sound bad that some people work so hard at sinning, but when you get caught lying to someone, you will find yourself lying to more and more people in an attempt to not let the first lie get uncovered. That is working hard at the wrong things. An affair, a lie, a theft—can all lead us down a road we should never travel. Today, examine your current situation. Focus on Him- His will, His word, and His purpose for your life. Keep the passion on working for the Lord, not working on the wrong things.

“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.” – Jeremiah 2:13 [NIV]
