My Delicious Feast

I love food. I love cooking food. I find myself often planning a new experimentation for dinner. I roam through the produce aisle looking for ingredients. I consider what I want for the finished product. I imagine what I could create by mixing everything together. I look forward to the plate at the end of the experiment. More importantly, I look forward to the finished product on the plate.

When you get to sit down for a delicious meal that you thoroughly enjoy from start to finish, it becomes more than a meal – it is a feast! Each of us likely envision a different type of feast. For me, a feast is ordering three different types of egg rolls and spring rolls from my favorite Chinese restaurant and eating them in consecutive order. It is my favorite lunch feast. It is celebration for no particular reason except to enjoy what God has provided.

The Bible speaks of a delicious feast—a delicious feast of God. He is our celebration. He is the One Who truly satisfies. He gives us all that we can drink, and it overflows. We have the opportunity to partake of Him. We are invited to draw near, to approach His Table. We are encouraged to be refreshed by His Word, to eat of His daily bread. He can be your delicious feast – Your Joy, Your Song, Your Salvation. You can find comfort in His presence as you sit down and partake of Him. Too often, we settle for crumbs and miss out on the feast He provides. Drink deep my friend. When you seek Him with all your heart, you will find Him!

“You become my delicious feast even when my enemies dare to fight. You anoint me with the fragrance of your Holy Spirit; you give me all I can drink of you until my heart overflows.” – Psalm 23:5 [TPT]

Leap Like a Deer

I am not too keen on waking up early for the Cross Country season. As I get older, I appreciate extra sleep. Even so, I love the drives to school for practice. I especially enjoy the moment alone when I’m driving the back road and witnessing all of the beauty around me. God never ceases to amaze me.

This morning, as I drove home, I looked before me and praised God for the beautiful farmland. I rejoiced in the amazing sunrise I was experiencing as I sang along to a praise song on the radio. Before I knew it, I was even more amazed. Three deer were prancing along. I slowed down the van as they crossed the road. They continued to leap through the corn field, and then they crossed the road again. For a moment, everything around me stopped. All the noise. All the busyness. All eyes focused on God’s creation doing the simplest of things—leaping along through the corn field.

I was reminded this morning of the great promise written in Isaiah, the promise that “the lame will leap like a deer.” God heals. God restores. God alone qualifies us. He is our strength. Praise Him and Him alone. Continue to press forward and tread on the heights He places before you. Leap like a deer today!

“The Sovereign LORD is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights.” – Habakkuk 3:19a [NIV]

“The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will sing for joy! Springs will gush forth in the wilderness, and streams will water the wasteland.” – Isaiah 35:6 [NLT]

Renewed and Remolded

Clothes can make a person they say. I think that can be somewhat true. I know when I put on my sweatpants, I feel comfy and ready to relax and enjoy a quiet night with my Bible and whatever book I’m currently reading. When I put on dressier clothing, I am ready to get to work. When I put on my sneakers, I become the dog walker extraordinaire.

Colossians 3 says we are clothed with a new spiritual self. Paul wrote that during our walk with Christ we are renewed and remolded. Renewed and remolded. Being renewed is being refreshed to start again. Being remolded means we change or are refashioned. Our appearance is different. It’s more of an outward thing. Renewed is an inner thing.

As we grow in Christ, we are renewed (inner) and remolded (outer). It’s an awesome thing. People will take notice. They will catch a glimpse of this change. They will experience the light, the light of Christ shining through you. You may even take notice in time that God has be doing a great work in and through you. He has a great plan for you my friend. Keep pressing forward.

“And have clothed yourselves with the new [spiritual self], which is [ever in the process of being] renewed and remolded into [fuller and more perfect knowledge upon] knowledge after the image (the likeness) of Him Who created it.” – Colossians 3:10 [AMP]
